Almost every website uses cards. They guide users to new content and usually consist of a title, an image, an excerpt and a “learn more” link. Seems simple enough, but from an accessibility standpoint, cards present some challenges, and many popular WordPress themes don’t get it right out of the box.

In this talk, Tina Reis will take an in-depth look at this common component, explain relevant accessibility considerations as well as common mistakes, and present options for accessible card designs you can use in your next WordPress project. The talk will include practical code examples. The focus is not only to make it WCAG compliant, but also easy to use for a range of users, including screenreader users.
